Forging a rose from a single piece of steel is a traditional show of blacksmithing skill. This delicate flower is made from silver, not steel, but it is made in much the same manner. Each petal is forged and formed, to create the texture and curves of a natural flower. It was given an unusual white finish by repeatedly heating the metal and quenching it in acid, to create a layer of pure, fine silver. For contrast, the very edge of each petal was burnished to a bright silver.
Each rose is an unique work of art. Like a real flower, no two will ever be exactly alike.
